Help a Writer
Writing is my full time job, but it’s not always the easiest way to keep the lights on. There are three ways you can help a writer out;
The first way you can help a writer is by talking to one; I am always interested in my readers’ thoughts, research and conversation. If there’s a topic that peaks your interest, I want to know about it. You can contact me directly by emailing me at email@example.com
The second way you can help a writer is by offering her a place to write; I am always looking for rural and peaceful retreats, no matter how humble. Quiet and nature is the best place for creative process, and I love my busy village but sometimes you just need a change of pace. I am always looking for space to focus and write outside of the city. Although I live on Vancouver Island and prefer to travel locally, little journeys are not outside of my scope. I’m also open to exchanging homes – if you think you can house a writer, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Writing is not that lucrative, but it is incredibly important. I would never have been able to keep writing if it had not been for the people and patrons that chose to support me – to ‘send me crackers’. In a day and age when digital media is so easily accessed for free, supporting a writer is one of the best ways to make a difference. Sending ‘crackers’ helps to keep my lights on.
Thanks to Amanda Palmer for The Ask, as it is never easy.
